From the East

Fiona writes short stories and poetry, and has just finished her first novel, Leipzig - a tale of love, betrayal and forgiveness set in communist East Germany.

Fiona's fiction has been published in various magazines and anthologies, including Mslexia, Gutter and Poetry Scotland. She has been shortlisted for the Fish Short Story Prize and longlisted for the Bridport Poetry Prize and the Fish International Poetry Prize. She was one of 40 poets selected to appear in the Aesthetica Creative Works Annual 2009.

Fiona completed an MLitt in creative writing at Glasgow University in 2008. In the same year, she won the Gillian Purvis New Writing Award for her novel-in-progress Leipzig and in 2009 she won the Sceptre Prize. Her novel Leipzig was also shortlisted for the 2007 Daily Telegraph 'Novel in a year' competition.
