Glasgow interiors

chandelier

Glasgow has had many incarnations. Second City of the Empire. Home of the Tobacco Lords. World shipbuilding centre. And, of course, city of slums and razor gangs. More recently, it has been European City of Culture and City of Architecture.

This book delves into Glasgow's long history and its rich architectural heritage by going behind closed doors to explore the city's interiors in the company of the best possible guides: Glaswegians.

Glasgow Interiors takes you from an Italian café on Maryhill Road to a Southside sari emporium. From a high-rise council flat to an Alexander 'Greek' Thomson mansion. From a West End boudoir to an East End flea market. It explores the city centre and the spectacular landscape that surrounds Glasgow. And along the way, it starts to uncover what makes one of Europe's most contrary and engaging cities tick.
